Activism or Community Service

Teri McGrath

I think people who do activism or community service are great regardless of what motivates them. If a sense of self-righteousness or ego drives them to do good, that’s fine so long as they are doing good. But I also think we should be aware of those motivations so that we can be sure they are not clouding our judgement and defeating our purposes. We need to listen to each other. We need to stop fighting and start cooperating. Everyone knows this. Everyone wants to be useful. Everyone wants to be loved. It shouldn’t be that hard for us to work together.
